Promo Review - Bloodtruth

Bloodtruth Promo
Bloodtruth is a brutal death metal band from Perugia, Italy that sent us a cool little two song promo for us to check out. Now I'm a big fan of death metal, but when it comes to it's brutal cousin I tend to be somewhat standoff-ish. Not saying that I'm picky about it, I just tend to not enjoy it as much as other genres for some reason. But being the good person that I am, I decided to give these two tracks a listen, and I'm surprised to say that I actually enjoyed what I heard. The reason this is only a promo instead of a full fledged EP or album is that these guys are looking for a potential label to call a home, so they only have a select amount of tracks to have the ears listen to.

Things start off a little weird with the first track, "Coerced to Serve". It feels like you're in some sort of chapel while listening to someone singing off a prayer or hymn. But this short lived piece is replaced with that ever so familiar sound of metal. These guys don't waste any time in laying down heavy riffs and showing off those brutal-esque vocals that the genre is known for. The sound is raw, but not enough to be deemed a demo for sure, so that actually ends up being quite a positive for me. One of the highlights would have to be the drumming, they just seem to grab my ear's attention.

The same can be said for the next track, "Suppurating of Deception". Intense drumming and the vocals seem to be the main stage acts for this band. You can definitely tell that both tracks are way different though, so don't think they're just repeating the same thing over and over. They also seem to bring in those hymn-like vocals into the track to break things apart a bit, they almost act as melodic vocals. The last half ends up being more interesting to me, most likely because of the added vocals.

Although not usually my cup of tea, these guys are strong and solid in my book. Although I would like to see some more variety in their work in the future. Check these guys out if you like the genre or looking for something that is plain brutal and kicks you in the face.
