A New Horizon by In This Chest

Band: In This Chest

Country: Austria
Year: 2012

Unsigned Band

My head has been hurting lately with all these electrifying groups pouring in from all over the world! In This Chest delivered the album, A New Horizon, in hopes to get signed in the future. With a taste of electro and melodic sounds, they are quite an addictive metal group.

My main interest right off the bat was the creativity in the introductions to each song. Each one individually set the stage for an explosion of raspy screams and harmonized cleans. The track, "A New Horizon," offers great example of deep screams and high vocals that sets the tone of what this group has to offer. Transitions in the tempo combined with the mashing of drums and decorated riffs really keeps you interested in each song. It is almost hard to remember what each track delivers until you run it back over and over again. That's the type of metal that keeps my mind entertained. You can also hear the presence of synths that really enhance the overall sound behind the music. A small example pertains to the song, "Never Give Up," which slips in the synths that really hits the spot among other tracks in the album. This group needs to get signed!

I did sense at times that the instrumentals sounded a bit clashed but this complaint could go either way with most people. Additionally, I really enjoy the cleans so I wouldn't mess with that side of the vocals, but I do think the screams can sounds even better with more practice.

Realistically, I'd like to see In This Chest get signed and continue making music and stay on pace with the sound they provide presently. The possibilities are endless.
